The journey is over. The journey has just begun. Thank you Ohio. Thank You America. You have made the Right Choice. We have come so far. We have worked so hard. Highland County, you made a difference !!! After months in Hillsboro and Greenfield and a year for some of you (thanks so much to Bruce Mulkey, Carolyn Baer and Sarah Siepelt), our time has come. Our moment has arrived. President Barack Obama, what a wonderful time indeed.

I still remember my first couple calls from Bruce Mulkey (Field Organizer for the Democratic Party), when for so long I had wondered if I could make a difference. First I said maybe, then I took the plunge and decided to lend a hand. It was the Fab Five in Highland County, with myself and Jade Faul, Tim Amburgey, Kevin Bruce and Lisa Keys. Ready to make a difference. Soon we had a whole cast of Phone Bankers and Canvassers from Mary Turner-Brown to Chad Gossett. Making a Difference, each in their own way... Rick Covington joined us to lead canvassing in Hillsboro for our Get Out The Vote effort, as we began reaching out all the way to Greenfield, where we found folks like John Shonkwiler and my Superstar canvasser... Bruce Lombardo (thanks sooo much Bruce for all you did), who drove from Bainbridge and worked without fail. We even got the Mayor of Greenfield, John Baal, involved and sent him out to Canvass for Sen. Obama !!!!

We saw Bruce Springsteen in Columbus, and Carole King in Hillsboro... we listened to Governer Strickland and Sherrod Brown, and some of us (way to go, Daniel) even shook hands with our President, Barack Obama in Portsmouth !!!! Thanks sooo much to Megan for giving us the opportunity, as well as Bruce Mulkey and Carolyn Baer for their un-wavering dedication (Carolyn even had us calling folks in Nevada when the race was almost won).

I'll never forget what Bruce Mulkey said to me at the very beginning... "I want to wake up on November 5th, knowing that I've done everthing that I possibly could". I'll never forget those words of inspiration. And now the journey begins... to heal America, to face the trials of the real world and decide to do what is right. Thank you Highland County, thank you America... thank you Barack Obama. There comes a time when each of us is ready to be tested, ready to do that which we are asked... even by the Lord himself. Our Time is Here. Our moment has arrived. Let's get started !!!!

The Getaways at Liberty Park

Sunday night the Highland County Democratic Party had a gathering at Liberty Park in Hillsboro, ohio. The gathering was organized by Lisa Keys. Thanks to everyone for helping.
The Highlight of the event was a live band called "The Getaways". These guys had a great variety and sounded great too !!! Some of us had a great time sitting on the hillside listening, but they could be heard even up on the top of the hill where the food was being served (Great Job, guys). The lead singer, Micah, is also a tech for the Democratic Party here in Hillsboro. Here is a clip for you to enjoy...

Sen. Barack Obama is more than a great leader. He's a great guy!!! I got the honor of volunteering at shawnee s.u. in portsmouth, Ohio. Hundreds of us worked hard as thousands upon thousands arrived to see Sen. Barack Obama !!! My son Daniel and I ended up getting to stand right next to the Grandstand (guarding the stairway), and Sen. Obama took the time to shake Daniel's hand (like I said...what a guy !!). This is an up close clip of his arrival as we stood
almost directly behind the podium.

Governor Ted Strickland in Ohio

Ohio's Governor Ted Strickland came out to Hillsboro, Ohio today to discuss the latest economic crisis, and to express his views about the upcoming election. This event could not have been possible without the co-ordination of Susan and Doug Siepelt as well as the Ohio co-ordinator for Sen. Barack Obama, Bruce Mulkey. Everyone was on their feet when Governor Strickland arrived. I was glad that my son, Daniel Cameron was there to take these great pictures, as well as video of the event.

It was good to see so much of the media at Southern State Community College where this forum was held, including the guys of WVNU.

The crowd continued to grow to a point that Dinah Phillips, the leader of the Highland County Democratic Party, determined that we needed to move the forum to the larger auditorium. There was a huge response from the audience as our local leaders were introduced and Governor Strickland began to talk about the change that was needed to help Ohio's workers. He also praised Senator Barack Obama for his views on the economy, and soundly endorsed him. He urged all voters in Ohio to back the Democratic Senator, and to participate in this year's early voter program.

I was proud to do my part, along with Highland County's other team leaders, Jade Faul and Tim Amburgey as well as volunteer Tamara Shewalter. Susan Siepelt and I set up the sign-in table where we had all the current information about the Presidential Candidates. Jade and Tim quickly moved through the hall with clipboards in hand to keep up with the many interested voters.

We are all very proud to be a part of this year's Presidential Election Campaign, and hope that Ohioan's will help us bring about the Change we can Believe in.

Here are some highlights from Gov. Strickland's speech.

All of us need to do our part for this campaign and this country that we love. Join us in bringing change to Ohio by stopping into the Democratic Headquarters next to Jenny Cameron's real estate office by Magee's Restaurant on West Main Street (route 50) at the center of town across from the courthouse. A great time can be had at the Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky. It's a great Rock Venue that is easy to find. This place is also said to be one of the most haunted buildings in the United States. They have National Touring Bands and Original Rock Bands Galore !!!! This Place Really Rocks !!! Thanks to APG , a national band out of Cleveland, Ohio...you guys ROCK !!! Apologies also, as some of my clips and pics were lost during the evening (sorry, guys) please e-mail a clip or code and I will post it (firstfatemusic@yahoo.com). Next up was 8Kount, a real screamin' band with so much energy that you just can't take your eyes off the stage. Also there was Beneath the Sky, a 4 piece band. The guitarist in this band played like a real pro and did a great job keepin' it together. Thanks guys, it's a great time to see ya all in the same night !!! The Headliner was In-Rage...the Rock~n~ROCK band !!! Lead singer Dex is always a thrill to hear, with bold vocals and lots of excitement. The lead player is always on, and has so much speed, it's hard to see what he's doing !!! What a bassist this band has...definite pro !!! And Hooter was all over the room with his guitar, keeping time all the way. Crashin' with firstfate !!!

I had a great time working with Steve, from Steve's Studio Production's in Hamilton, Ohio. I was a little early, so I played a few out front until it was time to start. We worked for 5 hours on my single, Crashin'. This recording stuff is a lot harder than you would think...but Steve is quite the genius and helped me to feel at ease the entire time !!! It was great to get to hang with Nephew, Dex (the "voice" of In-Rage), and I hope to see them play on Sept. 15th in Newport, Kentucky. You can check out his solo acoustic act at MySpace. Word from my Nephew is that I may get to start on his circuit filling in with my acoustic act when he has obligations with In-Rage. Here are some pics from the session:

Highland County Fair in Hillsboro, Ohio

What a great time we had at the annual Highland County Fair in Hillsboro, Ohio !!! The Moto Cross Racers ranged from 4 yrs old to over 40yrs old !!! And of course there were the rides !!! The kids just love rides and my Daniel of DANCOMEDY is no different... anything that spins, just like his old man !!! Later, he did volunteer work for the local D.A.R.E. association booth, and word was that he did a fantastic job. If you want something to do in the Highland County area, the fair is open through Saturday night !!! At firstfate, it's all about you....does your organization need help ??? We find bands and provide services "under cost" for your charitable organization !!! We can provide a PA setup for your meeting for just $35 Dollars, or a DJ for your event for just $200 (well under cost). Live bands are normally $500, but we can sometimes find one for less, so give us a call !!! Where you are and where you're going...firstfate.

After a very long search to find that perfect fit behind the drums for IN-RAGE, the IN-RAGE family is happy to announce that we have our man. After several great auditions, IN-RAGE asked drummer Dave Smith to join the family earlier today and he accepted. The ball is once again rolling and we are happy to be looking to label shopping this fall and touring again in the near future with our astonishing new pulse behind the drums. IN-RAGE will make you a promise that will be kept... You WILL NOT be disappointed! There is a new sound coming and a lot of familiar faces to see once again. We've missed you all... But no more... Christopher's Lounge in Hillsboro, Ohio is a great place to find the freshest bands from around the Tri-State area. Tonight was Hot Rod in the Fast Lane. They played a good variety of New Rock and Classic Rock as well as a few Country Tunes. These guys Rocked !!!! The Drummer and Bass player also play in a well known touring band called Rootbound. Ok, the local entertainment scene in Southern Ohio is beginning to Boom !!! Here at firstfate we want to help it grow !!!! So here's some info about this area. Drew Hastings just bought 'the Old Opry House' and is diligently restoring it. Rumor has it a Comedy Club is in the Works. The Old Colony Theatre on Rt 62 has been restored and is now a Non-Profit organization that allows an artist to keep HALF of all ticket sales for their event !!!! Alley 21 is the latest local club and touts more than 20 big screen flat panel TV's hanging from the ceiling so you can catch your favorite team no matter where you are seated. They also have quite a nice stage with it's own lighting. Did you know that Hillsboro, Ohio was Johnny Paycheck's favorite hang out??? This is where he was the day he shot a man in the bar on rt 62. And how about Bobby Macke ??? Did you know he was originally involved in The Old Colony Theatre and still has many ties to this area ??? BTW Peter Frampton Lives just an hour away in Indian Hill (this reporter has relatives born and raised there). And how about Dave Chappelle, who loves to call Southern Ohio his home. Well, the Contest was a success, but after almost a year, the band has decided to stay "Undecided". These guys play a great mix of Classic Rock-n-Blues as well as several of their own Hot Original tunes !!!

Everyone Had a Great Time in Hillsboro, Ohio at Christopher's Lounge on Rt. 50 just a block away from Domino's Pizza. It was New Years Eve, and by the middle of the first set, Jim Chris reached capacity and closed the doors. Let the Party Begin !!! What a great time it was !!! The Band was rockin' as the crowd put in thier votes for a name. After the third set we gave away prizes including an Epi Roadie Jr. electric guitar (thanks to Kim Steward, Lori Ruble and the New Vienna Planning Commission as well as Beth Cameron and Paranormal Scientific Investigators of Ohio). The winning name was chosen by audience applause, and after a double check the band was dubbed "LOW VOLTAGE" by who else but a builder named Chuck. He sais with 2 electricians in the band it's a no brainer. The Boys in the Band weren't too keen on it, so they decided we will stay "UNDECIDED". Before starting up again, Jim and Beverly's Daughter got up and showed us she had a great set of pipes !!! Nate, Ira, Stringer, and Chip a.k.a. firstfate got back up there and Rocked till after 2 AM. It was one to remember !!! So thanks to all of you who participated in the Name Our Band Contest !!! St. Nick Stops in New Vienna, Ohio

The Gazebo was ready and decorated for the occasion. The crowd began to gather at this community event in New Vienna, Ohio. The committee worked hard to set up a bazaar across the street and decorated the Gazebo and the Santa House. The music started at 5pm with firstfate entertainment providing the sound system free of charge. Kim Steward headed the committee and did a great job of keeping everything going smoothly. As the crowd gathered, they were provided with hayrides, free cookies and hot chocolate !!! Soon after the event began we had a visit from WTRO radio in Clinton County, Ohio. They interviewed Kim and were kind enough to mention firstfate. Check out the interview at www.wtroradio.com . There was quite a crowd gathering and the children were all well behaved and in good spirits. There were about 200 guests that stopped by for a chance to sit with Santa, who arrived in his sleigh right on time. The kids didn't seem to let the cold bother them, and the adults hung in there as the music played on and Santa descended from his sleigh. During the wait, kids were given a ride around town in Santa's Sleigh. It was great to see the kids get a grab bag as well as a nice pair of gloves. This was a great event !!! We hope to work with the New Vienna Planning Committee again in the future. It was a fun and festive night up North of Bloomingburg, OH this last Saturday as firstfate mixed it up for a wedding reception near Washington CH, OH. This was a great bunch and I must say, I had a great time. There was a large turnout of friends and family. It was great to see so many folks of all ages having such a good time. Oh, and just for the record...Ty, they tried to warn ya (forgive the big guy, the cake was delicious) !!! So thanks to everyone for having me out to entertain. New Vienna Hometown Fundraiser

We had a great time in New Vienna, Ohio today at the Hometown Fundraiser. They had a great Flea Market all day long, and there were a few cruise-ins as well, including the Marauder Van (check back for a pic of this monster, really). The kids enjoyed a Huge Moonwalk Attraction and there was lots of great food. We want to thank Engine House Pizza for helping out by opening early for our event. We want to also thank the New Vienna Planning Commission for working together to bring some life back to the Gazebo and Santa House. And Special thanks go out to Kim Steward, Linda Ruble, and Lori Blackburn for their hard work in coordinating all the different areas and people involved.
We arrived about 9:30am to get the music rollin'. The great folks of New Vienna we're already gathering to enjoy the beautiful weather and the delicious "walking tacos". Jennifer Day and Erika VanDervort did a great job of starting us out with some Country and Gospel Favorites. At Noon there was Classic Rock and Originals from Nate, Charlie, and Ira (thanks to everyone for your entries in the nameourband contest, we'll be posting the second round picks by Wednesday). Nate's hometown crowd showed their support as always (Thanks Y'all), and helped the band have a fun time as well.
Later, Bobby's Blue Grass Boys showed us what years of experience sounds like. These guys know their stuff !!! Finishing off the entertainment was Cattywampus playing a fusion of Celtic and Scottish, with American Roots. Wow, that was great everyone !!! Clay Township Annual Car Show

We had a great time at the Annual Car Show in Buford, Ohio on Sunday, August 27th. The music started at Noon, and the Cars started rollin' in about 1pm. My Favorite was "Boss Hoss", a custom bike owned by Dan Volz. He also brought the orange 1928 Ford Model A. You can find out more from Dan at DV Auto Custom & Cycle, or call (937) 288-2753. Amanda did a great job of putting this together. She had a lot of volunteers who worked even through a small rain delay. Congrats to Kaitlyn who turned 16. There were some great give aways, and prizes. We we're glad to see the interest in the Name Our Band Contest. Here are some of the names that made it through the elimination round: Just Three Guys, The Three Man Guitar Band, The Street Line (thanks Andy) and Rain or Shine. Thanks to all of you who participated. Come out to New Vienna, Ohio on September 10th for the annual Gazebo Cruise-In and enter for your chance to win an Epi Roadie Guitar from Dallas Music in Hillsboro, Ohio. HMCA Summer Festival Columbus, Ohio

The Crowd Had a great time at this year's Summer Fair in Columbus, Ohio. This Festival, Directed by Gyun Newsome, had it all !!! There were rides and booths, Live Music, and Karaoke, along with some great prizes and a split the pot worth over $300 !!! Cary from Clear Sound Innovations was in charge of all the activities on Stage and kept things running smoothly. John from Independant Electronics stopped by to help light up the stage. Earlier in the day a new Acoustic Act took the stage to showcase thier new CD "Windows". Brian and Chris call themselves "CB1" and are based in Columbus. Joe didn't miss a beat as CBR's Jeff Wheeler wailed out "the Perfect Mix" of Country, Blues, and Rock. The Voice of In-Rage

It was a great time for all at Sydni's Salloon on Kemper-Meadow Road in Forest Park, Ohio last Friday night as "The Voice of In-Rage", Dex, took the stage for a solo performance of some of today's greatest hits from Breaking Benjamin, Green Day, Stained, as well as a some favorites from Bob Marley, and More !!! Michelle tended bar and kept up with the crowd as Dex wailed on, with his acoustic guitar in hand. It was great to hear him sing his original tune "Addiction". The crowd went wild as Dex sang some Irish Drinkin' songs, and kept everyone asking for more. Dex's special guest Chip a.k.a. "firstfate", had some tunes of his own to throw in, including songs from Blues Traveler, SRV, CSN, as well as some of his original tunes including "Where You Been", "Human", and "How I Am". If you're anywhere near Forest Park, Ohio, you'll want to check out Sydni's Salloon !!! Sydni's is a great place to party with friends. The staff does a tremendous job, and the atmosphere is perfect for 'getting your drunk on'. Sydni's is now open for lunch, and has Happy Hour every day until 7pm (though they say they can be persuaded to extend that if your nice !!!). Alley 21 in Hillsboro, Ohio presented Latigo Blue on Saturday Night from 10pm till 2pm. Skip and his crew were prepared for the challenge, and used electronic drums to get the best sound. The new sound board was a great addition. At sound check, Latigo Blue played a great song by the Eagle's (and they do great on Eagle's tunes). The crowd was building and Andrea who was MOD for Alley 21, was pleased with the sound and the look of this band. You've got to check out Latigo Blue on July 4th in Clarksville, Ohio. All right all you Hard Rock Fans...Here Comes IN-RAGE . You don't want to miss these guys at this years Freedom Fest in Cincinnati, Ohio. The event is all day on July 1st with 19 bands Rockin' the stage leading up to the main event...Jani Lane formerly of Warrant. That's right. You do not want to miss this event. Chuck Wait and Morrystown Founder's Day Band Fest

It was another great event in Morrystown, Ohio at the 4th Annual shindig put on by Chuck Wait and the city of Morrystown. As always there was great food, and great entertainment, along with alot of great folks helping out in the booths and directing traffic. This year's event was put together with the help of Colony Production. They did a great job getting from one band to the next. The event started Friday evening and was a great success. Saturday at Noon Latigo Blue took the stage with a great mix of Country Favorites, and one of my favorite Eagle's hits "Take it Easy". You can reach them at (740) 333-2015. Next there was a fresh new acoustic duo~The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. They played some great original tunes along with covers by Crosby, Stills, and Nash and Stevie Ray Vaughn. After that CBR stormed the stage for a perfect mix of Country, Blues, and Rock. Both bands may be contacted through firstfate at (937) 763-8742. It was quite an event...we stayed to hear Roundabout~(740) 642-2949~play some great Country Favorites, then it was time to hand out the Car Show Trophies. The CBR band finished its promo pak titled, "The Perfect Mix". The band has been busy all over the Greater Highland County Area. In Hillsboro, the band is ready to head back to Tommy B's (just 8 mins West on Rt 50), and will soon be mixin' it up at the new Highland Lanes on North High Street. The CBR band played Chief's Lake over the weekend for a good cause. These guys played to a standing room only venue. Clear Sound Innovations kept the music movin' and a good bit of money was raised with an auction during a break. Some items went for over $100.00. A Sample CD from CBR auctioned for $35.00 !!! We have a great time at Tommy B's in Hillsboro, OH. on Tuesday Nights. This weekend was the Chuck Wait Festival in Hillsboro, Oh. It was a great time !!! Saturday was the Car Show...with great old cars and 3 great bands !!! First we saw Blue Steel playing great hits across genres. Man these guys can rock !!! If you want to see them, check out the show at Buckeye Hills on Aug. 13th from 9pm to 1am. After that, it was time for Geezer Palooza. These guys came up from Cincinnati, Oh. They played great hits from CCR the Stones, Free and lots of other classic bands.
