Local Entertainment
Ok, the local entertainment scene in Southern Ohio is beginning to Boom !!! Here at firstfate we want to help it grow !!!! So here's some info about this area. Drew Hastings just bought 'the Old Opry House' and is diligently restoring it. Rumor has it a Comedy Club is in the Works. The Old Colony Theatre on Rt 62 has been restored and is now a Non-Profit organization that allows an artist to keep HALF of all ticket sales for their event !!!! Alley 21 is the latest local club and touts more than 20 big screen flat panel TV's hanging from the ceiling so you can catch your favorite team no matter where you are seated. They also have quite a nice stage with it's own lighting. Did you know that Hillsboro, Ohio was Johnny Paycheck's favorite hang out??? This is where he was the day he shot a man in the bar on rt 62. And how about Bobby Macke ??? Did you know he was originally involved in The Old Colony Theatre and still has many ties to this area ??? BTW Peter Frampton Lives just an hour away in Indian Hill (this reporter has relatives born and raised there). And how about Dave Chappelle, who loves to call Southern Ohio his home. Ok, Ok, so by now you get the point. I like to call Hillsboro, Ohio "The Big Town in the Middle of Nowhere"...but it's growing to quickly to be nowhere for long, so if you want a place to showcase Music or Comedy...get to Hillsboro, Ohio or check out info from this link http://www.city-data.com/city/Hillsboro-Ohio.html , or this http://www.hometownlocator.com/City/Hillsboro-Ohio.cfm or just Google...Hillsboro, Ohio and see the many, many links associated with our growing community. Whether for business or pleasure with many new venues, golf courses, 4 star restaurants, and airports just minutes from town....this is the place to go if you want to stop being one of many and begin to be the top of the crop. Great write up and I would agree, along with the Members of HCPG, the nonprofit group still hanging in there to help restore the Bells Opera House on Rt 62, downtown Hillsboro. Did you know it seated 1000 people in 1895 when the Railroad was big? Did you know that the US BANK building was a hotel and has a ball room on the 3rd floor? Wouldn't be cool to have someone turn the 2nd and 3rd floor of it BACK into a HOTEL and connect to the Opera House by walkway or elevator??? We love Nelsonville's little Opera house...what a packed line up they have,we only wish that for our town!
